POSITION #035-CLS-03-24:  

Para-educator 

Lewis & Clark Elementary

4.5 hours per day/191 days per year, continuing

Salary:  $18.80 - $21.11 per hour

 

DESCRIPTION:  Under the direction of the building administrative team and/or classroom teacher performs a wide variety of tasks related to the instructional, behavioral and safety programs to enhance learning experiences in one-on-one, small group, and classroom setting in multiple locations around the school.  Provides instructional/clerical support and student supervision inside and outside before, during and after school.  Extended lunch time is a possibility due to scheduling supervisory duties for the building.  Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum AA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, but not required. Experience working with elementary age students is preferred. Technology experience is required. Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions. Experience supporting or tutoring students with academic content/skills is preferred. Experience teaching social skills to students is preferred. Experience working with students with extreme behaviors preferred. Comfortable with managing large groups of students. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality. Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Wear appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position. 

 

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:  The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

 

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
