Technology Specialist

8 hours per day/260 days per year

Salary:  $33.25 - $35.55 per hour

*postition begins June 3, 2024

 

Summary: Provide full support, repair, and record tracking of digital and analog fire/security systems. Support electronic access systems and related devices, including collaborative support of end-user client software. Provide full support, repair, and installation of security cameras and collaborative support of end-user client software. Secondary support for other electromechanical devices as required when no other support is available. Prepare all schematics and required records and help desk communications for supported systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Site survey & needs assessment for proper equipment placement.
  • Coordinate facility and electrical needs for projects.
  • Responsible for cable connectivity, including cat5-7 termination to RJ45 and punch-down devices. and management for various sources.
  • Responsible for ensuring cabling routing and raceway support structures are complete.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and electronic record maintenance of cables, blocks, wall plates, and interfaces. 
  • Accountable for testing cable and associated network systems issues, including repair, replacement, or adjustment of end unit components. 
  • Coordinate fire, security, access control, camera, and other safety systems installation, management, and maintenance.
  • Coordination and management of consultation partners are required for various systems, especially fire alarm systems and their associated integrations with other safety systems.  This also includes partners for camera, access, vestibule cameras, and emergency response systems.
  • Provide full support for the planning and implementation of access control and security systems.
  • Assist with telephony-connected systems. 
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of wireless and wired network systems.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of AV and classroom control systems.
  • Assist in electronics repair of associated district systems as applicable. 
  • On-going training and certification as needed for the position.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Basic understanding of Security and LAN connectivity and have scaled understanding of connected systems from end users' source through all components.
  • Strong background in low voltage electronics or a decree that supported the learning of PLC logic controls and low voltage 
  • A two-year degree in technology-related electronics or A+ Network or documented work experience in a related field is preferred. 
  • Mitel IP phone system experience preferred
  • Valcom Intercom system experience preferred
  • Kantech access system experience preferred
  • Exacqvision system experience preferred
  • Fire Alarm system experience preferred
  • NICET One certification preferred
  • Preferred experience with Extron, Lightspeed-Tek, Apple TV, Mac OS, Chrome OS, Windows OS
  • Ability to read and understand manuals for software and hardware applicable to district policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and keep current with emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and prioritize workflow as needed while maintaining communications with other support personnel and supervisors. 
  • Must have a current Washington State Driver’s license and a reliable and available vehicle for use daily.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
