DESCRIPTION: Provide appropriate, one-on-one support nursing services to address the combined health, social, and attendance needs of migrant eligible students to improve student health and academic engagement.  The Migrant Nurse Case Manager responsibilities include working with students who qualify for services and are in need of medical assistance which can be delivered in a school environment in addition to providing parent workshops and attending Migrant family events.  The Migrant Nurse Case Manager must collaborate with all educational stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and coordinate appropriate health related services.  The Migrant Nurse will maintain documentation and data entry using MSIS and attend regular training provided through the Migrant Education Program.  Other duties as assigned and additional paid responsibilities such as Migrant Summer School will be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: (BSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university required. Must have a valid Washington State license to practice as an RN. Valid Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification or willingness to acquire within 2 years. Ability to communicate with parents and the local medical community. Ability to develop health plans and work in coordination with nurses and educational team. Ability to work with students PK to age 21, both in and outside of the school system. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Willingness to continue training and education related to innovative nursing services. Ability to coordinate with community resources as available. Demonstrated ability to work independently with large numbers of staff. Ability to promote the migrant health services program. Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students and parents. Ability to work flexible hours and make home visits to migrant families as needed.
