POSITION #275-CLS-08-23:      

Enrichment Activity Instructors  – 21st Century After School Expanded Learning Programs 

(up to 30 positions available)

Orchard and Pioneer Middle Schools 

Columbia, Lewis & Clark, Lincoln, Mission View, and Newbery Elementary

After School hours (typically 2 hrs/day), varied hours and days, depending on school assignments

2022-2023 Grant-funded positions

Salary: $17.62 per hour (new) / $18.12 per hour (returning staff)

 

General Overview

The goal of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) is to raise math and literacy levels, improve academic performance, strengthen social relationships and provide meaningful opportunities for students in the After School Expanded Learning Program.

 

The Enrichment Activity Instructor (EAI) will report directly to the 21st CCLC Site Coordinators. The Site Coordinators will coordinate and supervise all 21st CCLC Program sites. 

 

Applications should include a letter of introduction that indicates the subject area you plan to lead. Past topics have included dance, STEM, Cooking, Leadership, Arts & Crafts, Drama, Music, Active Games. Other topics considered and welcomed!

 

Qualifications: A desire to share your skills and interests with elementary and middle school students. Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students. Ability to create and lead enrichment activities. Commitment to regularly communicate through email. Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents. Experience with classroom and behavior management. Bilingual communication skills are highly valued but not required. Experience supporting low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds preferred. Ability to uphold privacy and confidentiality requirements.

 

Responsibilities: Develop, implement and lead engaging activities with elementary and/or middle school age students. Assist Site Coordinator in recruiting students to activities. Create lessons that emphasize project-based and/or experiential learning. Submit identified learning goals and supply lists in lesson plan format. Manage classroom behaviors and student attendance records. Leave classroom or activity space clean and organized. Attend professional development opportunities including those which may occur outside of typical work hours.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
