Adaptive PE Specialist

Pioneer Middle School 

0.2 FTE Continuing Contract

DESCRIPTION: Teach general and adaptive physical education to students in grades 6-8. Plan, implement and evaluate instruction consistent with building and district curriculum. Report pupil progress to parents; support programs and building/district in-service education programs; attend meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington state certification with appropriate endorsement. PE teaching experience preferred. An understanding of state PE standards and the progression of learning. The ability to plan for and work with students with self-contained special education needs. A working knowledge of positive behavior supports preferred. Strong communication skills. Ability and desire to work within a district and building professional learning community. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.Knowledge and experience implementing Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) preferred. Working knowledge and experience in implementing the strategies for creating a trauma-sensitive classroom preferred.  Requires prolonged sitting or standing.  Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this job.
